WE DONATE 50 CENTS FOR EVERY BAG SOLD
This small roastery was birthed out of a passion for coffee, but also a passion to have an impact in this world, outside of our everyday sphere of influence.
To that end, we are THRILLED to tell you about a few causes that are close to our heart.
We believe in
What’s the best way to get something done that you know nothing about? Find someone who’s doing it well, and support them. One such person is our dear friend Benite Jeune and his organization Rise Haiti who are changing lives through eduction, clean water and strengthening local communities. We have been supporting their school, Vignier, for years, and are excited to continue this support through Lord & Lady Coffee. A portion of every bag sold goes towards purchasing text books for their school Vignier and more projects in the future.
We are also working with Benite towards direct trade of our absolute favourite bean, the Haitian Blue Pine Forest Bean! Our heart is to cultivate relationships with coffee farmers, purchasing their crops at a fair and sustainable price as direct trade partners.
The Grace Inn is so close to our heart! For years, our friend and partner Jodie Jenkins laboured towards the opening of a homeless shelter for men in Belleville, Ontario. They provide an essential service to the community. It is our absolute pleasure to provide coffee to their guests on a regular basis. We also donated $1 for every bag sold in December 2020 as an extended Giving Tuesday initiative.
As we grow our network of coffee farmers (and to be honest this has been extremely difficult during COVID-19 due to travel restrictions), our next sphere of impact is supporting them in the planting of new coffee trees and sustainability practices to support the industry. We are excited to share more on this as we are able to develop it further.
